The Royal Barges

These stunning vessels, crafted from massive teakwood and adorned with intricate carvings, gold gilding, and shimmering glass, are used in auspicious ceremonies and state occasions. Witness the grandeur of the Suphannahong, the largest barge, measuring 46 meters long and requiring 50 oarsmen and 14 crew members.

History and Traditions

Discover the history of the Royal Barge Procession, dating back to the Ayutthaya period and revived by King Rama I. Learn about the construction techniques, the role of royal barges in Thai traditions, and their diminished use with the advent of motorized boats. Museum Collection and Location

Explore the museum's collection, showcasing the intricate details and rich history of these unique vessels, providing a fascinating glimpse into Thai history and culture. While the museum displays eight royal barges, the entire fleet numbers around 50, with additional barges visible in a separate warehouse. The museum, located on the Thonburi side of the river near Phra Pin Klao Bridge, is accessible via Chao Phraya Express Boat to Wang Lang Pier N10 or by longtail boat. Alternatively, cross Phra Pink Lao Bridge and navigate towards Arun Amarin Bridge. An entrance fee applies, with additional fees for photography and videography.
